Barrett Homes Trust is a non-profit charitable trust setup in 1984 to provide affordable accommodation for people with physical disabilities. Currently 15 units over 3 complexes cater for 16 residents. The accommodation is open to any member of the community who has a physical disability but has the ability to live independently.

Initially, a 6 room complex was set up at 39 Barrett Street, New Plymouth. This was followed with a 5 room complex at 8 Stuart Place, Blagdon in 2004 and a 4 room complex at 59 Standish Street, Inglewood. All units meet healthy home standards.
